c. Resilience Scan

Discover the Resilience Scan: an approach to identify vulnerabilities, offer actionable insights, and build basic capacity to bolster Resilience levels.

I. What it is

The Resilience Scan is an approach developed by Resilience Reclaimed. It identifies and analyses key vulnerabilities and risks, and makes practical recommendations on how to improve Resilience levels. This is accompanied by basic capacity building activities to strengthen the capacities of the organisation.

The approach looks at the organisation, its environment, and its operating context.

The Resilience Scan is based on proprietary frameworks and tools developed by Resilience Reclaimed. The Approaches integrate elements adapted from ISO 22301:2019 (Business Continuity) and ISO 22316:2017 (Organisational Resilience) and the BCI Good Practice Guidelines.

The Resilience Scan is a ‘light’ approach done in a limited time period. It gives a snapshot at the time of the assessment. The approach focuses on quick actionable results in an efficient package instead of on an in-depth analysis and extensive capacity building programme.

Adaptable across various sectors, it can effectively address unique organisational challenges and provide tailored insights irrespective of industry. It provides specific recommendations on priority areas internal to the organisation, and in the operational context. The approach includes a brief review on global and regional conditions and dynamics and includes the package ‘Training Organisational Resilience’.

The Resilience Scan is a good way for an organisation to identify priorities and be able to assess if a more comprehensive approach would be beneficial. The scan may lead to Custom Support Services if the organisation would consider this necessary. While offered as a ‘package’, the Resilience Scan is adapted to the organisation, its requirements, and its operational context.

II. Objective

To identify key vulnerabilities of the organisation and critical risks, provide practical guidance on how to address these, and build basic capacity at organisation level.

III. Who it is for

The Resilience Scan is for organisations that want a better understanding of their risk landscape and who need guidance and improved basic capacity on how to approach this. This, with a moderate resource commitment.

The Resilience Scan is a good approach for small- to medium-sized companies and organisations that are result driven and operate in a less complex environment.

Larger organisations operating in a more complex context would probably benefit more from looking into the ‘Business Continuity Programme‘.

That said, the Resilience Scan can be a good first step for organisations that consider setting up a Business Continuity Programme. It allows to assess potential added value, and better understand potential implications of setting up a Business Continuity Programme.

IV. Practicalities

The Resilience Scan consists of a combination of on-site visits and meetings, and off-site research and documentation. Depending on the size of the organisation, how complicated and complex it is, and its operational context, on-site time could vary from a week to several weeks. During this time sufficient access to key persons and sites would be necessary to conduct the assessment. There is flexibility in how this is organised though.

Resilience Reclaimed recognises that much of the information collected is sensitive and that data and information security are of utmost importance. Extensive measures are taken as described in our ‘Data and Information Security Policy‘ to ensure this. This Policy can be made available to prospective clients.

The ‘Training Organisational Resilience‘ is part of the Resilience Scan. Organisations who want to assess if a Resilience Scan is relevant could start off with the training and build from there.
